You are being invited to participate in a research study, investigating attitudes towards sex doll ownership. This study is being conducted by Dr. Craig Harper and Dr. Rebecca Lievesley at Nottingham Trent University. Before you decide to participate, please take the time to read and understand the following information about the study carefully.
Sex doll ownership is becoming an increasingly discussed topic in society, but our knowledge about what ownership of dolls might represent, the effects that doll ownership has on owners’ psychology and behaviour, and how dolls might be used in a range of professional contexts is still unclear. As part of a wide-ranging programme of research (which looks at both doll owners and broader stakeholders), we are investigating different perspectives on sex doll ownership. In this specific strand of the project, we are exploring attitudes, experiences, and judgments about sex dolls and their owners. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Your participation in this research is entirely voluntary. You have the right to withdraw your data by contacting us with your unique identification code, which you will create on the next page. You may email us requesting withdrawal for a period of two weeks (after this point, data withdrawal may not be possible if analyses have been conducted). To withdraw anonymously you are free to create a blinded email address, or send a letter detailing the study title ("Professional views about dolls") and your unique identification code. Our contact details are provided below.
The survey covers some sensitive topics and issues regarding sexuality and crime. These have the potential to cause distress. Support sources are provided here, and are repeated at the end of the survey for anyone who feels they may need it:
