My name is Alfie Lane, and I am an undergraduate psychology student at Nottingham Trent University. I would like to invite you to take part in my research study for my third year project.

Title of study : 
Examining the relationship between parental motivational messages, academic self-efficacy and conscientiousness among university students.

What is the purpose of this study?
It is unclear if how students perceive they are parented, their confidence, and their personality interact. This study will help us answer these questions.

Do I have to take part and what does it involve?
No, taking part in this research study is entirely voluntary. If you decide to take part you will need to confirm your consent to participation and create a unique identifier code in the next page.

The questionnaire should take approximately 10 minutes. First, you will be required to answer a few demographic questions, then you will respond to a series of statements for procrastination, fear of failure and perfectionism and select the answer that you feel most applies to yourself. Please take time to read each statement and answer truthfully. There will be a debrief at the end of the study, please read the information and click the arrow at the bottom of the page to submit your responses.

Am I eligible?
To participate in this study you must be 18 years or above and be a current UK university student.

What are the possible advantages or disadvantages of taking part?
There should be no disadvantages to taking part in this study but if you feel any emotional distress or discomfort during completing this questionnaire feel free to stop the questionnaire. There will be support links provided in the debrief if you need further information or support.

What information will be collected and how will my data be processed?
Your responses in this questionnaire will be entirely confidential and anonymous, no data revealing your personal identity will be collected. The data collected in this study will be used only for research purposes and will be handled only by myself and my supervisor. All electronic files will be kept on password protected computers. How can I withdraw my data?
You have a right to withdraw your data from this study for 2 weeks from the day you complete the questionnaire without providing a reason. If you wish to withdraw your data after completing the questionnaire, you should email myself or my supervisor using the contact details below and quote the unique identifier code you create on the next page and your data will be deleted. Please note if you do this, your anonymity might be compromised.

Has this study been reviewed?
All research by the University involving human participants is reviewed to ensure that participants are treated appropriately, and their rights respected. This study has been considered by Nottingham Trent University's School of Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee and has been given a favourable ethics opinion.
