Exploration of Group Memberships and Wellbeing

The Present Study

The present study aims to explore the relationship between group memberships and mental wellbeing. This study will ask you to provide certain demographic information (age, gender, country of residence) and to complete several measures on a range of topics, including gender identity, eco-anxiety, sibling relationships (if you have siblings), and mental wellbeing. Some of the questions will touch on the topic of mental health. In the unlikely event that answering the questions will be upsetting, you can exit the survey at any time by simply closing the study window/tab, and we encourage you to seek help from the mental health charity Mind (www.mind.org.uk).  When you get to the end of the survey, you will be provided with a debrief screen featuring the researchers’ contact information, links to additional sources of support, and a reminder of the study and its aims.

Statement of Anonymity
The data collected from you will be kept anonymous. Once data collection is finished, all information will be safely stored to prevent data information leaks in accordance with the Data Protection Act (2018). Data will be stored until July 31st 2023, and then deleted from all online and personal platforms. This study will be anonymous through the use of a unique Identification code which you will be asked to create upon consenting to participate in the study.

Right to Withdraw
You can choose to stop participating in the survey at any point and without giving a reason by simply closing the survey window. The data you have provided up to that point will be omitted from the analysis automatically. After completing the survey, you also have the right to ask for your data to be withdrawn without giving a reason why you want this to happen, but you must ask for this by February 1st 2023 by emailing any of the researchers listed below (and provided at the end of the survey). Participants will be asked to provide their Unique Identification Code in the email to request the withdrawal of their information. It is important to note that if your email address contains your name then you will lose anonymity by emailing the researchers, but the researchers will maintain confidentiality by deleting your email as soon as they have deleted your data from the data-file.

Sona Credits
NTU Psychology students participating via SONA will receive 2 credits for their participation. If participants withdraw after completion, they will retain the credits. If participants withdraw during the study (before finishing the questionnaire) they will lose the credits.
